May 25, 2016 – Johnson & Johnson issued an “Urgent Field Safety Notice” to warn of the higher instances of hernia recurrence and revision surgery needed from the Ethicon Physiomesh Composite Mesh. This served as a voluntary recall of all unused products. However, in the U.S., this was categorized as a “market withdrawal”, not a “recall”.
