All athletes need to be in top physical condition, but success as a distance runner demands extraordinary mental discipline. The goal is rarely in sight until the final seconds of the race, yet every step along the route is critical. Years of cross-country competition instilled the discipline Robert Garwood needs to successfully pursue compensation for those who have suffered life-changing injuries.

The Columbus, Indiana native came to the Tri-State to run for USI and coached the school’s runners after graduation. After receiving his law degree from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law and passing the bar exam, he returned to Evansville to begin his career as a legal generalist. He soon realized his drive and discipline were well-suited for personal injury cases. After building an impressive record of success, he joined the Gerling Law team.

Early on, Robert handled the defense side of injury cases, but quickly realized his heart wasn’t into helping insurance companies pay as little as possible to people who had suffered losses through no fault of their own. Armed with a lifelong disdain for bullies of all kinds, he soon switched to standing up for those who needed to be fairly compensated for what had happened to them.

When he isn’t pursuing justice for individuals and families, Robert still enjoys running, golfing, playing guitar, painting, and drawing. Most of all, he enjoys every moment with his wife, Brittani, and their young son.
